Why did you choose this profession? I grew up in a first responder home. My dad was in law enforcement for over 50 years, and my mom was a registered nurse for more than 50 years. I saw the positive impact their work had on people’s lives. I have always had a passion for helping people and a sense of honor and pride in community involvement and inspiring individuals to follow their dreams. Law enforcement seemed the most logical path to fulfill those passions and that path started as a communications officer/jailer at the Garza County Sheriff’s Department for 10½ years before joining the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Texas Department of Public Safety offers numerous avenues to promote your individual talents and passions.
How do you deal with stressful situations? I rely on my faith in God, talk through the situation with a trusted and wise friend/co-worker, exercise, healthy eating habits, and get enough sleep.
Hobbies & interests: Running, hiking, camping, baseball/softball, music, horses, beach/lake time.
Community involvement beyond work: Regularly attend First Baptist Church Post as well as churches within Area of Responsibility when working on Sunday mornings, attend ballgames and other school functions
Quote: Work hard. Talk less. Be kind. Stay humble.
