Education (high school, college/degrees): Graduated from Frenship High School. Four years of college football and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Angelo State University. Master’s degree in Homeland Security at Angelo State University. ACSM certification through DPS.
Honors/highlights: I played four years of college football, was Academic All-Conference and graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude). I graduated from DPS Class C-2022 as a class officer (chaplain). During my academy, I finished with the Male PT Leader Award. DPS Field Training Officer (FTO). I’ve trained at least six troopers, some for longer than others. I graduated from DPS’s Arrest Control Tactics (ACT) and DPS Fitness Institute. During the fitness institute, I accomplished the DPS “Gladiator” challenge/award.
Why did you choose this profession? I’m passionate about public service and community safety. I also enjoy that the job has components of danger and grit that make it unique, forcing me to stay sharp.
How do you deal with stressful situations? I lean on my faith in God and use outlets like family and exercise.
Hobbies & interests: Hyrox, weightlifting, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, travel and the outdoors.
Community involvement beyond work: I consistently attend Trinity Church and Church on the Rock campuses. I also consistently visit schools in the area and have given career-day presentations, pep-rally speeches, etc.
Quote: If I hit the lottery today, I’d still come work for the Highway Patrol tomorrow.
