City of Lubbock offices, all public libraries, both landfills and attended drop-off stations are closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. Monday and Tuesday trash routes run Tuesday and Wednesday, September 8 and 9, instead. The Buddy Holly Center stays open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Texas cities and counties drop Flock cameras as data-sharing revelations mount
At least 15 Texas jurisdictions, including Austin, San Marcos, Wylie and Hays County, have ended or limited Flock license plate reader agreements, The Texan reported Monday, September 7, after Pflugerville found 459 outside agencies ran 1.6 million searches of its data though only 83 were authorized.

Fireworks blast at a Mexican church festival kills at least 10
