Why did you choose this profession? Even as a young kid, I have always been drawn to law enforcement. When I got into corrections, I knew early on this is the field I where I wanted to grow my career. I wanted to serve our community alongside other men and women in law enforcement who have the same passion I do.
How do you deal with stressful situations? Understanding things are always changing in our field, so you have to continuously learn and advance your education. I like to slow things down to assess situations fully to ensure the safety of everyone involved. On my free time, I will read over case law to see what decisions have played a role in shaping our field operations. Reading reports of past incidents also allows me to learn what is effective. Along with experience, the combination of these things allows me to make the best decision I can in a developing situation.
Hobbies & interests: I am happily married with two sons. I enjoy long-distance running, going to the gym, hiking, gardening and I love dogs.
Community involvement beyond work: I have partnered with the Salvation Army and Big Brothers Big Sisters program with the assistance of our agency in doing community outreach.
