Why did you choose this profession: I chose to become a police officer because I wanted a career that would keep me active, allow me to help people and challenge me every day. I enjoy being out in the community rather than sitting behind a desk and I like that no two days are ever the same. The constant variety, problem-solving, opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life are what drew me to this profession and continue to make it rewarding.

How do you deal with stressful situations: I’ve learned stressful situations are part of the job, so I focus on staying calm, thinking clearly and relying on my training. I take a moment to assess the situation, prioritize what needs to be done and make decisions based on the facts rather than emotions.

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy staying active; going running and doing CrossFit. I also enjoy traveling — especially to destinations where I can participate in different exciting outdoor activities. I enjoy challenging myself to learn new skills and these activities allow me to stay physically active while stepping outside my comfort zone.
