People attending President Donald Trumpโ€™s Tuesday rally in Lubbock should review security restrictions before arriving: Signs and banners are prohibited, all attendees will undergo screening, and even small clear bags are not guaranteed entry, according to guidance shared by the Lubbock County Republican chairman.

The advisory details what attendees can bring to the Oct. 27 rally at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center and urges them to arrive early, carry only essential personal items and allow extra time for screening.

Lubbock County Republican Party Chairman Ken Adams urged attendees to prepare for the event in a statement about Trumpโ€™s visit.

โ€œWe encourage everyone attending to plan ahead, arrive early, respect security procedures, and extend the hospitality for which West Texas is known.โ€ Adams said.

Adams also thanked those coordinating preparations: โ€œI want to extend my sincere appreciation to the United States Secret Service, local law enforcement, first responders, event organizers, and the many volunteers working behind the scenes to ensure a safe and successful event.โ€

Small clear bags may be permitted, but security personnel will make the final decision. Attendees should not assume a bag will be allowed simply because it is clear.

The advisory identifies the following as items prohibited by the U.S. Secret Service:

  • Aerosols and spray containers.
  • Alcoholic beverages.
  • Balloons and balls.
  • Banners, signs and placards, including structures or supports for them.
  • Drones and unmanned aircraft.
  • E-cigarettes.
  • Explosives, including fireworks.
  • Firearms and other weapons.
  • Glass, thermal and metal containers.
  • Laser lights and laser pointers.
  • Mace and pepper spray.
  • Noisemakers, including air horns, whistles, drums and bullhorns.
  • Packages.

Security personnel may prohibit additional items they determine pose a security risk. Attendees should follow all instructions from event staff and security personnel.

As Lubbock Lights previously reported, doors open at 2:30 p.m., the program begins at 4:30 p.m., and Trump is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. All times are Central.

The rally is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane, in support of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton.

The official RSVP form remained available Saturday, Oct. 24. Attendees can request up to four tickets per signup and must follow the confirmation textโ€™s instructions to verify their registration by phone. Registration is not complete until that verification is finished.
